The Niagara Federation of Agriculture (NFA) is an agricultural organization representing over 1400 farm family members.  Niagara offers the most diversified area of food production in all of Canada and agriculture has proven to be the economic mainstay within the Region.  Agricultural producers have $838.1 million in gross farm receipts with an employment impact of 19,892 jobs within the Region.  The Niagara Federation of Agriculture (NFA) is the local extension of the Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA) which represents over 38,000 farm family members across our province.

At this time, we would like to encourage NFA members to consider being part of the strongest voice of agriculture by becoming a director of the Niagara Federation of Agriculture.

The NFA has 12 directors and 2 members of OFA’s Policy Advisory Council. The directors of the NFA review and make comments on issues that involve the wellbeing of the agriculture industry.  The directors also participate in promotional and educational events. The Policy Advisory Council members represent NFA on the 88-member council and provide grassroots input on key issues and policy direction.

Like most organizations, the NFA struggles to find new, energetic, passionate members willing to join the board.  All organizations need new people to motivate and make improvements.  Being part of the team can be both rewarding and challenging but at the end of it all, you will learn and contribute, meet new colleagues, push yourself  beyond your comfort zone resulting in a better you.  Come out and join one of the Niagara Federation of Agriculture meetings and help lead the industry into the future.  Contact Cathy at to learn how you can join the team!

Elections for the Niagara Federation of Agriculture will be held during the virtual Regional/ Annual General Meeting, Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at 7:00 pm.
